BIBLE READING:
Matthew 18:19
Galatians 6:2
1 Corinthians 1:10-11
1 Thessalonians 5:25

The greatest power and strength of a group is its power to pray.

To get through what you’re going through, you need to get other people to pray with you or for you.

This is easiest when you’re in a small group.

When you’re going through a tough time and you’re not in a small prayer group, you are vulnerable and unprotected.

You may not have the strength that people in a small group do because you don’t have people praying for you.

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 1:11, “You are helping us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks because God has graciously answered so many prayers for our safety” (NLT).

Another version says, "You also help us by your prayers for us. Then many people will thank God on our behalf because of the favor shown us through the prayers of many." (2 Corinthians 1:11 -ISV).

There is additional power in group prayer that is not there when you just pray for yourself.

Because of that Jesus said, “If any two agree as touching anything it shall be done” and “Where two or more are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:19 KJV).

Paul appealed for group prayers.

He said, "Brethren, pray for us." (1 Thessalonians 5:25 KJV).

He emphasises the request by saying, "Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you." (2 Thessalonians 3:1 KJV).

The Bible says in Galatians 6:2, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (NIV). What is the law of Christ? “Love your neighbor as yourself.” When you pray for other people, you are loving your neighbor as yourself. When they pray for you, they are loving you as themselves.

RECOMMENDED ACTION

Pray alone. That's good and encouraged.

Go further, pray with others.

Start with one or two prayer partners. Pray for each other.

Avoid talk and gossip circles, they sap spiritual energy.

Develop strong prayer partnerships and prayer groups.

Take advantage of technology to pray with others.

BIBLE VERSE TO MEDITATE ON:

"If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven."

(Matthew 18:19 KJV)
