Pressures of Today's World

fli logoThe pressures of today's world and the demands and expectations on individuals affect family life and relationships in a big way. People work long hours, and also add study time to it such that the time one gets gets home, you are utterly exhausted. The best of our time is taken away by the imposed priorities of survival and personal achievement. And it seems these two, survival and personal achievement have taken top priority in people's lives. But closely following that in third place is technology. Most people resort to modern gadgets to relieve themselves from the pressure of work and learning. So once on their way home, they sit listening to music or hide their face into their phone and chat away with the whole world. And when they get home, they immediately switch on to their favorite TV channel. Little time is left for family except a few words to say good night, if that happens at all. So life goes on. And what going on in the relationship, people become more and more strangers by the day.
So my encouragement today is:
Spend time with one another. Create time to have quality fellowship as a family, or as a couple. Eat together or play together. Take time to create conversation which is not only about home administration such as paying bills and attending to the children, or just asking children to do their homework etc. But talk about your attitudes and feelings about what is going on in your family, what your challenges you are facing together or individually and learn to carry each other's burdens. Seek to be kind hearted and tender and create an environment of affection, warmth and encouragement. Ephesians 4:32 says, 'Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another even as God for Christ sake has forgiven you.' And James 5:16 says,'Confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another that you may be healed.' This is how to prosper as a family, and to be in good health when you do these things. Improve on doing these things and you will succeed as families.
