POWER TIME WORD DAILY DEVOTION

BIBLE READING:
Proverbs 18:24
Matthew 11:19

Do you remember your best preschool friend?

For this writer best preschool friend was Gladman Chimonyo.

With Gladman playing was from sunrise to sunset and in the evening there were exchanges of dinnertime relish, risking getting beaten by mothers from the two families that stayed next door in a communal compound.

The two friends last met in 1967!

Does anyone know where Gladman is?

Anyway, History records much that has been said about friends.

  1. The antidote for fifty enemies is one friend. (Aristotle)
  2. A friend is the one who comes in when the whole world has gone out. (Grace Pulpit).
  3. A true friend is one who thinks you are a good egg even if you are half-cracked. (Anonymous Author).
  4. A good friend is a connection to life - a tie to the past, a road to the future, the key to sanity in a totally insane world. (Lois Wyse).
  5. A friend is one of the nicest things you can have, and one of the best things you can be. (Douglas Pagels).

The fifth quotation is notable - A friend is one of the nicest things you can have, and one of the best things you can be. (Douglas Pagels).

It confirms what Solomon said, "A man that hath friends must show himself friendly." (Proverbs 18:24 KJV).

The secret of true long lasting friendship is to show yourself friendly - always.

JESUS WAS A GOOD FRIEND

The Messiah was so friendly that some said of him, "The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. (Matthew 11:19 KJV).

Jesus did not participate in the bad things people did.

He befriended people and won them over to himself and to the kingdom of God.

He befriended fisherman (Peter, James and John), tax collectors (Matthew and Zacchaeus) and all the like.

He made Apostle's and Ambassadors out of them.

Like Jesus, seek to be friendly to all people and watch God build a worldwide network of friends across racial, ethnic, social and denominational barriers. beneficial to the Kingdom of God.

RECOMMENDED ACTION
